It’s been awhile since I’ve named a BFF: Bra Fan Forever! Although we’ve had LOTS of fabulous customers who love Linda’s, we have been super busy lately. Marcy is an accomplished Broadway and NYC performer and writer, and she exudes confidence and enthusiasm – partly because of her well fitting bras! Read her story, and see why this long time Linda’s fan calls us the “Broadway of bras”! (more…)

For someone like me, a bra guru with over 20 years of experience fitting women in the right bra, bras and breasts are everyday talk. For some, the topic is taboo. Well, I’m here to tell you why you should stand up straight, clear your throat, and brag about your bra! Take a look below for my thoughts on the benefits of spreading the word about bras, and proper bra fitting!
Do you hate your bras? Do you find it hard to find bras above a DD? Are you sick of digging straps? You’re not alone. Many of my best customers used to be bra haters. Take Lisa, for instance. She went from wearing a 38DD to a well-fitting 34H! She started shopping at my stores in 2009, and makes trips from Jamaica to my NYC stores just to get re-fit and restock her bras. She is a great example of a BFF: Bra Fan Forever!
Read her story below. I bet you’ll find yourself saying “hey, that’s me, too!” about some of the things she used to hate about her bra.
I am pleased to announce another BFF: Bra Fan Forever, Joyce! This young lady actually got fit by yours truly (lucky lady!). She was a unique size, a 28D- a far cry from that worn out 34A she was wearing. She needed a bra that matched her sweet but confident attitude. Well, and she needed a bra that fit. Just like other women out there, she was suffering in the wrong size. 28’s are still hard to come by, but I’m happy to say that we are working with the best brands to bring more options to our customers with petite frames. And, even more importantly, I’m bringing size awareness to those petite ladies. A D in a 28 band is not the same as a D in a 40 band. Remember, the smaller the back, the smaller the cup. Joyce would never have dreamed up picking up a 28 band, let alone a D cup. But that’s why I’m here to help, and that’s why Joyce is my newest BFF!

Sound the trumpets! It’s time to announce my newest BFF:Bra Fan Forever! This BFF story is about a woman in her 70’s who was brought in by her daughter for some personal help and attention. Even if you’ve had breasts for 50 years, you can always learn a thing or two about your body, your shape, and your bra size. Remember, bra sizing standards and your own shape are constantly changing, so regular refittings are a good idea for women of any age! Congrats to Rosine and her daughter Moira for being such a fab mother-daugther duo!

Occupation? Retired doing temp work and volunteering
Why are you Linda’s Bra Fan Forever? I fell in love with Linda’s when my daughter brought me in for a bra fitting. I had been looking for a good fitting bra for years. My last bra that fit was discontinued by the manufacturer six years ago. Love the undivided attention that I got from Chloe. She just wouldn’t quit until I was happy and had the correct fit!
When did you shop at Linda’s? This past August (2011) I was visiting my daughter and came in for my first visit. I plan to come in more often!
Who helped you, and what did you think about her Bra Divas skills? Chloe was very professional. She quickly realized what size I needed and after some consultation suggested a few styles that might be appropriate. After trying them on I finally found the perfect bra for me.
Were you wearing the right size? If not, what size did were you fitted for? No! I left in a 34E.
What was your favorite part about getting a fitt ing? Finding the vast range of styles and sizes from which to choose.
How did you feel and look after your fitting? Amazing. I was thrilled to have finally found a bra that fit so well that the straps didn’t fall down.
Do you have a favorite brand, style or type of bra? My new bra is the Simone Perele Andora #131380.
Why do you think getting fit for bras is so important for women? You look so much better in your clothes. The right bra prevents that matronly look and also preserves your breast shape so they remain perkier longer.
What was the best piece of advice that you got, or the most important thing that you learned at Linda’s? I learned not to wear the same bra two days in a row. Also that it’s important to hand wash and that you are probably not the size you think you are…unless you have been fitted at Linda’s.
You can read more about Rosine’s experience on her daughter’s fabulous blog here. Thanks to Rosine and her daughter Moira for sharing such a touching story!
Do you think you have what it takes to be Linda’s BFF? Share your bra fitting story and you may be featured on Linda Unhooked, our Facebook and Twitter pages and receive a $25 Linda’s Gift Certificate! Hurray!
Here’s to another fabulous BFF!
Hello Bra Fan followers! It’ s that time of the month again. You know, the time where we announce our latest BFF: Bra Fan Forever! Our previous BFF, Tina, had a great reason to purchase new bras – she shaved off 30 pounds! This time, our BFF Shannon also has a great reason – she’s a mommy who’s nursing her baby. (When you’re a breastfeeding mom the size of your breasts change throughout the day so it is important that you be in a nursing bra that fits just right.) Another thing we loved about Shannon is that she’s a former Manhattanite who frequented our Lexington Avenue store. She now lives in Montreal with her family.
Shannon’s email to Linda’s:
I used to live within walking distance of the old store, I miss it SO MUCH. Now I live in Montreal, so I’m grateful for Linda’s online. I am a nursing mom and a tricky bra size that Linda guessed right away! I love the selection and the attention to detail given in each fitting. Sometimes all you need is an accurate measurement to give you a great bra and sometimes you need an expert to help you with the right style and look. I got both and I’m a fan forever! I bring every girl I know to Linda’s when I’m in town and I send the online link to all women who are having bra trouble on all my mom-websites. I’m a mom blogger too, and I plan to do a post about Linda’s soon.
Name: Shannon A
Why are you Linda’s Fan of the Month? Because I think every town needs a Linda’s.
When did you shop at Linda’s? My first visit was probably in 2006, and then many visits subsequently, until I moved from NYC in 2010. Whenever I’m in town, I love to drop by.
Who helped you? I have had many of the nice saleswomen assist me, including one trainee. I have had the luck to get Linda a few times too. She did a fitting for me when I was pregnant and found me the best bra to get me through the crazy size changes.
What size did you think you were, or were you wearing when you first went to Linda’s? I thought I was a 38 DD.
Were you wearing the right size? I was close! I ended up being a 36 E in most sizes.
What was your favorite part about getting a fitting? I like that I can ask for a specific bra feature and quickly get a number of options in my size without having to leave the dressing room.
How did you feel and look after your fitting? When I wear my new bras, I always feel better; they are so supportive.
Do you have a favorite brand, style or type of bra? Right now, I am a big fan of HOTmilk because they are durable and pretty nursing bras. When I’m not nursing, I love Panache and Elle Macpherson because they are beautiful and just work for me.
How did you hear about Linda’s? A friend turned me onto her shop because we are both uncommon sizes.
Would you tell your friends to get a fitting at Linda’s? I do all the time.
Why do you think getting fit for bras is so important for women? All the little problems that you have with getting a bra to make you look good, feel comfortable, be supported, have the straps stay up, etc… they can be FIXED with the right bra. I think this is a revelation to most women.
What was the best piece of advice that you got, or the most important thing that you learned at Linda’s? If a bra isn’t fitting just right, don’t buy it. A better choice is there, even for rare sizes. Don’t settle.
Shannon also wrote a fabulous blog post of her time at my store and her experience online shopping on my site. She even says “Linda is boob-magic.” Now that’s a great BFF!
Thank you to Shannon for being such a devout customer! Do you think you have what it takes to be Linda’s BFF? If so, get all of the details here. I can’t wait to read all your submissions!
Hello fellow Bra Fans! It’s time to announce our latest BFF: Bra Fan Forever! You may remember my first BFF Ingrid, a military wife who lives in Japan and needed help via email to find the perfect petite bra. This time, our BFF Tina came in to the store after a 30 pound weight loss and desperately needed our help. (PS: Weight loss is one of the best reasons to get a bra fitting. Not only will you be a brand new size, but your breast shape and density will be totally different.) She was having such a hard time searching for her size (and style) on her own that she even contemplated regaining the weight after all of her hard work to lose it! Yikes! I’m so happy that my Bra Divas could help Tina. The photo of her (to the right) ”expresses her overall excitement of being uplifted (in more ways than one)”. Find out what has Tina so uplifted, and why she is the newest BFF!
Tina’s Email to Linda’s:
I had an awesome experience at Linda the Bra Lady.
Between February 2011 and August 2011, I lost close to 30 pounds (transitioning from a 38DDD to 34F). With the shedding of the pounds and inches the girls started to shrink (and head south). I visited several stores . . . you name a store that sells bras and I have probably been there. No exaggeration, I probably tried on close to 150 bras and each time I walked out of the store disappointed and almost in tears. It had gotten to a point where I contemplated regaining some of the weight to alleviate the torture I was feeling.
One day I was talking to one of my colleagues about my dilemma and she mentioned that she had seen Linda the Bra Lady on a show or something. We agreed that we would visit the store but she was taking too long for me. I called, made an appointment and arrived at your Lexington Avenue store in hopes of walking out with a bra. The associate, Kim, was very kind. I explained to her all of the above, shared with her my preference of the style of bra that works for me. She measured me and then went in search to find MY Bra. She returned to the fitting room with several options and each time I put on a bra my smile got brighter and brighter. I walked out of the store sporting my new bra (AND two more in a cute pink bag) plus a handful of cards to share with my friends. A month or two later, I ordered a bra online and I also returned to the store to purchase a strapless for an event I was attending.
When I told my boyfriend that I had finally found bras that fit, he did not care how much they cost, he was just happy that I was finally happy. All in all, I had a wonderful experience. The girls are headed north (BIG SMILE) and now all of my clothes look perfect because I am wearing the perfect bra. I owe all of this to you and your wonderful staff. I am forever a customer.
Have an awesome day and continue doing what you do well, putting smiles on women’s face.
Name: My name is Tina
Age: I am a wonderful 43 years young.
Why are you Linda’s BFF? After shedding a lot of pounds and inches, finding a bra that fit became torture. My bra expert helped me find the bra(s) that worked for my body shape and size without having to try on hundreds to reach the perfect one. Kim assisted me in finding the perfect bra and her Bra Diva skills were awesome. After explaining my dilemma and the style of bra I preferred, she returned with several options and they all worked.
Were you wearing the right size when you came to Linda’s? When I first visited Linda’s I was wearing a 38DDD because that was my size prior to losing the weight. I definitely was not wearing the right size, which I knew. But I was very surprised to learn I was a 34F. I definitely was not going to find that size in any normal store.
What was your favorite part about getting a fitting? My favorite part was Kim’s patience in working with me and lifting my spirits by telling me that she was going to find a bra that will fit me.
How did you feel and look after your fitting? Before my visit, I was torn (and somewhat depressed) because I could not find a bra to fit. After the fitting, I felt absolutely awesome. As I tried on each bra Kim recommended, my spirits were truly lifted (and so were the girls). It fit exactly how it was supposed to without any gapping or puckering. I wore a tank shirt to my fitting and when I walked out the door wearing my new bra, the silhouette in my tank shirt looked totally different. I stopped by almost every mirror and window to view the appearance my new bra had created.
Do you have a favorite brand, style or type of bra? I love, love, love Chantelle. I have somewhat full (but not firm) breasts and they fit perfectly into the Chantelle bra. There is no bulging on the sides nor are there multiple boobs in the front. Everything is in its place.
Would you tell your friends to get a fitting at Linda’s? I would definitely tell my friends to get a fitting at Linda’s. In fact, when I left the store, I grabbed a few . . . ok, a lot of cards to pass on to my friends.
Why do you think getting fit for bras is so important for women? Getting fit for bras is important because you learn what your actual size is instead of going to a store and grabbing a bra that you ‘think’ fits you properly. Yes, we know our bodies. However, a bra fitter can help you find the perfect bra for your shape and size.
What was the best piece of advice that you got, or the most important thing that you learned at Linda’s? I learned that there is a bra that will fit the shape of my breasts and it does not have to feel like torture to find it.

Where do I begin?? I used to not have a problem finding a bra that fit me … but now I realize that 1) I was probably not even wearing the right size to begin with and 2) I’ve now breastfed 3 babies and my boobs are nowhere near what they used to be!
The past year has been a real struggle for me, to find the perfect fit. I had my 3rd child last September and I breastfed her for 9 months (she quite suddenly quit one day, but that’s another story). I was able to lose my weight with her much faster than with my other 2 children and as my weight went down, so did my bust. I could NOT find a bra that fit me! Not to mention a NURSING BRA!
Did I mention that I live in Okinawa, Japan? No? Well, my only option, as far as clothing shopping goes, is the Post Exchange and let’s just say, the only bra I found to fit me there was in the little girls section. I eventually ordered some 32B nursing bras somewhere online (the smallest I could find), but even those were too big in the cup AND band…. I mean, we’re talking I couldn’t lift my arms without my bra inching up! It was impossible to be comfortable while chasing after my 4 & 2 year old boys and caring for my infant daughter.
Eventually I stopped wearing the nursing bras and just nursed the best I could in the few bras I had – that I could at least pretend fit… But after my daughter weaned herself, even those bras didn’t fit anymore… I tried Victoria’s Secret … but the smallest size they had made me feel like I was 15 … and they still didn’t fit!
I cried and cried – why can’t someone make bras for “skinny girls?” I couldn’t wear half of my clothes because the only bra I could wear was black with white polka dots (yeah, the tween bra from VS). The other half made me look like I had NO boobs, whatsoever! I began wishing I had bigger boobs. Anything to be able to shop like a normal person. Boob job?
But, no – that’s not me. I want to like my small boobs. I thought, if I could only find a bra that fit, maybe I would feel better about myself. Thus began my love affair with Linda’s Online. I stalked her bras and measured myself, and had my husband measure me – several times on several occasions. I e-mailed to confirm what size I should buy. I made my order and waited only 9 DAYS!
I received my Lucia Convertible Push Up bra today – my husband came home with several packages and I asked, “Is it my bra??” When I put it on I could have cried! For the first time in, I don’t know how long, I was wearing a bra that fit. It fit so well that it didn’t feel like I was wearing one.
I will never buy a bra from anywhere but Linda’s. You have no IDEA how excited I am to find a bra that fits! I only wish she had a store in Okinawa! I don’t know when I’ll get a chance to ever go to NY … but if I ever do, I will be coming in and personally thanking her!

Why are you Linda’s BFF? After searching for-EVER for a bra that fits – I FINALLY found one!
Did you order online or visit the shop? I ordered online at the end of September and received my bra the first week of October. Some day I will visit the store and bask in the wonder of so many bras my size, in one place!! I will try EVERY ONE on!
Who helped you? My husband measured me at home and I emailed to make sure that I would be getting the right size. Their recommended size was spot on!
What size were you wearing before Linda’s? I was wearing bras ranging from 32A-30B – but the cups were always way too big and the band was always way too big.
Were you wearing the right size? If not, what size did were you fitted for? I was definitely NOT wearing the right size! I ended up buying a 30C in The Little Bra Company Lucia Push Up.
How did you feel and look after your fitting? Even though I wasn’t fitted in person, I would just like to say: now that I have a bra that actually fits me, I feel much better about my appearance. I feel that I can put my shoulders back and be confident of the way I look in my clothes.
Would you tell your friends to get a fitting at Linda’s? I’ve already told all my sisters (6) and all my girlfriends here in Okinawa, Japan that they need to check out Lindasonline.com !
Why do you think getting fit for bras is so important for women? It’s so important for your self-esteem to have a bra that fits. Having a bra that doesn’t give you a proper shape can make you feel like you are heavier than you are, or it can make you feel like you are flatter chested than you really are. You shouldn’t be constantly adjusting your bra all day – which is what I was doing. With the correct fit, I don’t feel like I’m wearing a bra! And I feel like my body has a woman’s shape instead of a 15 year old boy…
What was the most important thing you learned? I learned that there ARE bras out there for thin and smaller busted ladies! I don’t have to ever contemplate shopping in the girl section at the store or consider sewing my own bras – the solution is Linda’s!
An update from Ingrid, who is still a loyal Linda’s fan: 4/15/12 ”I’ve adjusted the size I’m wearing to a 28C (after consulting with ya’ll through e-mail) from the original 30C I received.” Ingrid is setting a great example! It’s so important to check in on your size, try new styles, and make recommended adjustments. And we are here to help!
Thank you to Ingrid for sharing your story! If she inspired you to get a fitting of your very own, make an appointment or check out my website today. I can’t wait to help you, too!
